Ronald Howard Brown 10/13/1948 ~ 5/06/2009 Ronald Howard Brown (Ron) passed away May 6, 2009. Ron was born October 13, 1948, to Keith Chapin and Geneva Burdett Brown in Salt Lake City, UT. Ron has a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was welcomed home from his journey on this earth into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ron was loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed. We know we will be with him again. Ron was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served an honorable mission in the New Zealand South Mission from 1967 to 1969. He and Kathy served in the Family Home Evening program at the Utah State Prison for seven years where he was privileged to establish three of their branches. Ron married Kathleen Hooton, his high school sweetheart, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 18, 1970. Together they have four children; David, Kassy, Emily and Courtney and 11 grandchildren. One of Ron's greatest attributes was his sense of humor and quick wit. He lived life to the fullest and loved it. He enjoyed travelling the world, scuba diving, riding wave runners and wake boarding. His last adventure was sky-diving to celebrate his 60th birthday. Most of all, Ron loved to golf and vacation in Laguna Beach, CA with his family. He loved his grandchildren with all of his heart; they adore him and will greatly miss him. Ron attended Olympus High School and graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Business. He worked in the furniture and floor covering industry for 39 years, 26 of which were with his father at Brown Distributing Company. The past 11 years he worked as a Representative for Mohawk Industries. He was a great salesman and even better friend to his associates. Integrity was everything to him. He is preceded in death by his parents; Keith and Geneva Brown. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his four children, Dave (Kathryn) Brown, Kassy Brown Buehner, Emily (Chris) Koplin and Courtney (Mike) Golder, also his 11 grandkids; Paige, Morgan, Eliza, Rachel, Chloe, Olivia, Ethan, Isaac, Davis, Noah and Amelia. He is also survived by his siblings, Judy, Dennis, Marcy, Barb, and Shelly.
one time, ron was like, "Hey manda, do you know where the towels are?" i'm like, "Yeah, they're over there i'll go get ya one.."
He's like, "No i'll go get it it's fine."
I said, "No! I'm going to go get it!"
He's like, "Not before I do!"
So he ran as fast as he could, a 60 year old IN SHAPE GUY!! and i ran as fast as i could. He went on one side of the pool i ran on the other side of the pool, and he almost beat me...almost. this picture is my favorite! coming back..from our race.
Ron & Roach dancin on the beach!
Me & Ron dancin on the beach!
We got the opportunity to go on 2 trips with Ron Brown! He was the funniest person that has ever walked the face of this earth, and I will NEVER forget him. I came home from school one day and my mom said, “Someone had something really bad happen to them today.” I could tell from the look in her eyes was something wrong. She had told me that Ron had a stroke, and was brain dead. I was heart broken! I didn’t have a huge complete relationship with him, but I felt I knew him very well just from the vacations we went on with him! In Mexico, I was so excited to go to all the little activities we had all planned out just to see Ron, because of his sense of humor. He is the happiest and funniest guy I’ve ever met! When I found out the news, I went straight to my room, and just cried my eyes out. It just seemed as if all the GOOD people on Earth have to leave, never the BAD. I didn’t really understand. But I soon realized, why am I crying? RON would want me to be happy! Because he was constantly making me happy! He had a really big impact on my life, as he did with probably hundreds of others. I just don’t know where I’d be without this church. I would be so lost! I am so happy I can see my friends and family again. It makes everything so much better. I can’t wait until I walk through the gates, and see my Grandpa Joe, picking corn! And I’ll FINALLY get to play him the “angel eyes” song on the piano! Or my Grandma Nielsen makin tapioca pudding! Finally getting the chance to read her the book she always wanted me to read. Or even Chad, with his missionary scriptures! Ron..crackin a joke just to get a smile at me. My other friends, family I’ve lost..I can’t wait. IT’s hard when you lose someone, but it’s that much better when you know you’ll see them again!
Rest in Peace, Ron.
